September 2026 WOW Award Winner - Josh G.

The WOW Patient Experience Initiative recognizes team members who engage with patients/families, visitors and employees in exceptional ways, providing a superior level of commitment and reflecting the values of Wood County Hospital. Joshua Goltiao, RN, Nursing Supervisor, was selected as the September WOW award winner for going above and beyond.

Following a surgical procedure, a patient and their spouse discovered that a pair of AirPods was missing. They soon realized the AirPods had likely been left in the pocket of the patient's clothing, which had been removed and discarded during surgery.

When Josh learned what had happened, he didn't hesitate to help. He took the time to track down the discarded clothing and successfully recovered the missing AirPods.

Thanks to Josh's extra effort, the AirPods were returned to the patient before discharge, providing one less thing for the patient and family to worry about during recovery.

Josh will celebrate 10 years at Wood County Hospital this December. He began his career at WCH as a staff nurse in the Emergency Department and served as a Charge Nurse before becoming a Nursing Supervisor.

Originally from the San Francisco Bay Area, Josh attended nursing school in Jacksonville, Florida. Having worked for larger hospital systems throughout his nursing career, he was drawn to Wood County Hospital because of its size and culture, where patients and employees are treated as people, not just numbers.

To spread positivity, Josh enjoys connecting with staff throughout the hospital and helping create a positive work environment. Whether offering a listening ear, sharing a conversation, or making sure caffeine and candy are available, he finds small ways to support his coworkers, brighten their day and make even the busiest shifts a little easier.

Outside of work, Josh enjoys curling at the Black Swamp Curling Center and creating pottery at the 577 Foundation in Perrysburg.

A fun fact about Josh is that he was a competitive American Rhythm ballroom dancer on the Pro-Am circuit, competing in Cha Cha, Rumba, Mambo, Swing and Bolero at competitions across the country.

Thank you, Josh, for going the extra mile for our patients and demonstrating the compassion and dedication that make a difference every day at Wood County Hospital.
