Kim Peplinski, RN, Recent WCH DAISY Award Honoree

Congratulations to Kim P., RN, PACU, on being the next recipient of the DAISY Award for Wood County Hospital.

Kim was nominated by a patient who was impressed with her friendly, professional and attentive presence, saying her calm, confident approach to care made a tremendous difference in her preparedness and made her feel supported.

“Throughout the entire process, she maintained a positive, collaborative attitude and made me feel comfortable and respected,” the patient shared.

However, what really touched the patient was Kim’s compassion for her mother.

The patient's mother, who is 78 years old and experiences good days and bad days with pain, was having an especially painful day the day of the daughter's procedure. The walk into the hospital from the parking lot had been very difficult for her.

Kim noticed how much pain and unsteadiness the patient’s mother was experiencing and thoughtfully asked if it would be all right for her to escort the mother back to their car in a wheelchair. The mother gratefully accepted.

“This was something she absolutely did not have to do...it meant the world to both of us. By caring for my mother in that moment, she also relieved a tremendous amount of anxiety for me following my surgery.”

The patient also went on to say that Kim’s compassion, initiative and dedication to her care set the tone for her entire hospital experience.

“She cared not only for me as her patient, but for my family as well. Her actions demonstrated that putting patients first truly is her second nature.”

Please join us in congratulating Kim on this recognition!
