Why Choose Wood County Hospital for Women’s Health Care?

When it comes to your health, you deserve a team that combines clinical excellence with genuine, personal attention. At Wood County Hospital, you’ll find both, along with the advanced technology and specialized expertise that were once only available at large urban medical centers.

  • Advanced technology, close to home: Our Women’s Center features 3D mammography that detects 40% more invasive cancers than traditional 2D imaging alone, giving you earlier detection, fewer callbacks and greater peace of mind. For surgical care, we offer the latest da Vinci robotic surgical system, enabling our surgeons to perform complex gynecologic procedures through tiny incisions with exceptional precision and faster recovery times.
  • A dedicated Family Birthing Center: Our Family Birthing Center is built around you. Private labor and delivery rooms, skin-to-skin contact immediately after birth, dedicated lactation specialist support and rooming-in for the whole family reflect our belief that birth is a milestone worth celebrating. We also manage high-risk pregnancies in partnership with maternal-fetal specialists, so you receive expert care without leaving your community.
  • Specialists who know you: Our OB/GYN team brings deep specialty expertise in minimally invasive and robotic surgery, long-acting contraception, adolescent gynecology and breastfeeding support, along with the kind of individualized attention that makes a real difference. You’ll see the same trusted providers at every visit, at two convenient locations in Bowling Green and Perrysburg.
  • Whole-person gynecologic rehabilitation: We offer one of the few dedicated gynecologic rehabilitation programs in the region, providing pelvic floor therapy, biofeedback and electric stimulation for women dealing with incontinence, pelvic pain and osteoporosis.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a referral to see a women’s health specialist?

No, you can schedule directly with our OB/GYN team. If your insurance requires a referral, your primary care provider can submit one. Call our office and we'll help you figure it out: (419) 352-8427.

What’s the difference between obstetrics and gynecology?

Gynecology focuses on the health of the female reproductive system, including routine exams, contraception, menopause management and surgical procedures. Obstetrics focuses on pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum care.

How often should I schedule a women’s health exam or Pap test?

Most women should have an annual well-woman exam. Pap test frequency depends on your age and health history typically every 3 years for women ages 21–65, or every 5 years if combined with HPV testing. Your provider will recommend the right schedule for you.

Does Wood County Hospital offer prenatal and maternity care?
