Wood County Hospital is proud to partner with BGSU’s Division of Community Well-Being to bring health screening events directly to faculty and staff. Our goal is to make it easier than ever to stay on top of your health—conveniently and completely free.

We’ll offer rotating screenings designed to catch potential concerns early and help you make informed choices about your well-being.

Take advantage of this easy way to prioritize your health without having to leave campus.

A chiropractic alignment screening helps detect spinal misalignments and postural issues before they lead to pain or dysfunction. Early detection allows for personalized care plans that can improve mobility, reduce discomfort, and support overall wellness.

Personal Safety and Self-Defense Class by BGPD

Join us for a Personal Safety Class on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Bowen-Thomson Student Union, Multi-Purpose Room (228). Learn how to avoid looking like a victim, travel safely, and take action when needed. The class covers prevention strategies and basic self-defense techniques. Active participation is encouraged, so please wear comfortable clothes.

Children ages 11 and up are welcome with an adult. Presented by the Bowling Green Police Division.

Vascular Screening 

Vascular screenings check the health of your blood vessels and are designed to detect early signs of vascular diseases, which can lead to serious conditions like heart attacks, strokes, and aneurysms. This screening includes a non-invasive ultrasound of the carotid arteries to assess blood flow and identify potential blockages or narrowing. Individuals age 55 and older should consider being screened, especially those with risk factors like smoking, diabetes, high blood pressure or high cholesterol.

High cholesterol levels are a significant risk factor for heart disease and stroke. Screening helps identify individuals at risk, allowing for early intervention to prevent these serious conditions. This screening will be done via fingerstick with results available in approximately 5 minutes. Fasting is not required.

BGSU Health Fair and Farmers Market 

Dermascan - Regular skin cancer screenings are especially important for individuals with a higher risk, such as those with a family history of skin cancer, a history of sunburns, or excessive UV exposure. No need to register, just stop by our booth at the health fair for this screening.

Breast Cancer Screening

We’ve reserved time at the Wood County Hospital Women’s Center for BGSU faculty and staff to complete their mammogram. The Women's Center offers advanced 3D mammography for early detection, helping you stay proactive about your health. Women age 40 and older should begin regular mammograms. Check back for details on scheduling your appointment.

A1C Screening - National Diabetes Awareness Month 

Early detection of high blood sugar levels allows for timely intervention, which can prevent or delay the onset of diabetes and its complications. Regular screenings are recommended, especially for individuals with risk factors like being overweight, having a family history of diabetes or being over the age of 45.
