Telehealth

We are making immediate changes to minimize face-to-face visits to limit exposure and protect our patients and staff from COVID-19 (coronavirus). If you are a patient in one of our offices or an affiliated practice and have a visit scheduled, you may receive a call to transition your appointment to a telephone or telehealth visit with your provider. During the telephone or telehealth visit, if the provider feels it necessary for an in person visit, an in-office appointment will be scheduled.

COVID-19 Testing in Wood County

In the wake of ongoing shortages of test kits and other supplies, testing in our area is being limited to people who are hospitalized and healthcare workers.

Knowing if a patient or the healthcare worker has the virus is important to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 in those settings.

Testing for non-hospitalized or asymptomatic people is not an option at this point in time. People who are sick should go home and stay home. If symptoms are serious, they should call their healthcare provider.

3/21/20 Current Direction from ODH for COVID-19 Testing

Tier 1 - Inpatients at hospitals and other healthcare facilities, including long-term care, with symptoms suggestive of COVID-19

Tier 2 - Healthcare workers at Tier 1 institutions with symptoms and all individuals in public safety occupations

Tier 3 -Individuals with mild-to-moderate symptoms who are high risk- elderly, and those with serious medical problems

Tier 4 - Individuals with mild/moderate symptoms and without risk factors for adverse outcomes - testing not currently recommended

Tier 5 - Asymptomatic individuals - testing not currently recommended

Wound Healing Center

In reviewing the criteria determining when the procedure is essential, we recognize that there are times one of our scheduled visits may not meet the criteria. Effective 3/18/20-

  • Anyone in a course of HBO therapy will continue with that therapy.
  • Anyone that we find that meets the criteria moving forward will be evaluated and HBO utilized if criteria is met.
  • Providers and RN Case Managers will review the current list of patients scheduled to be seen for medical necessity.  Where we fell that the patient is safe to schedule the appointment out 2 to 3 weeks, we will do so to reduce the number of patients that are waiting to be seen and to be certain that we are not asking patients to leave their homes unnecessarily.
  • We will continue to accept all new patients referred as our seeing them may eliminate an ER visit at a time when the ER departments are managing the surge of COVID-19 cases.

3/17/20

Elective Surgeries

Governor DeWine personally issued an order cancelling “non-essential” surgeries and procedures in light of COVID-19.

Criteria for cancellation of Non-Essential surgeries and procedures that use PPE:

If none of the following criteria are met, the surgery or procedure will be cancelled:

  • Threat to the patient’s life if the surgery or procedure is not performed
  • Threat of permanent dysfunction of an extremity or organ system if the surgery is not performed
  • Risk of metastasis or progression of staging if not done
  • Risk of rapidly worsening to severe symptoms (time sensitivity) if the surgery is not performed

This order is effective at the close of business on Wednesday March, 18th.

If you have a testing procedure scheduled and are questioning if it fits the criteria, please contact your physician or the department it is scheduled with.
