Sports Medicine

Wood County Hospital’s Sports Medicine program provides a full range of sports medicine and athletic services to athletes in the Wood County area. The program deals with the unique needs of athletes of all ages, ranging from area middle and high school students to collegiate athletes at Bowling Green State University.

Our focus is not only on the treatment of sports-related injuries, but also on their prevention. Our sports medicine physicians are experts in the treatment of almost any sports related injury. And our facilities are equipped with the latest in technological resources in the areas of radiology and rehabilitation.

We are committed to the belief that the same quality care available to professional athletes should be given to each and every athlete. Through an integrated approach with our patients, families and coaches, we strive to deliver on that principle.

Sports Trauma Clinic

Injured scholastic athletes who have chronic and acute sports-related injuries can be evaluated at no charge by an athletic trainer and a sports medicine physician. The clinics serve as a way to identify and treat injuries early, in the hopes of preventing more serious injuries from occurring.

The clinics are open on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month (except holiday weekends). The clinics are held between 8:30 and 9:30 a.m. in the ReadyWorks office, 960 W. Wooster, Suite 105.

Coaches Clinic

Regular coaches’ clinics approved by the Ohio Board of Education are offered throughout the year. Designed for coaches who need to receive their first aid certification to supervise extra-curricular activities, the programs provide coaches with a three-year certificate. Register for a Coaches Clinic.

Athletic Training

Our staff of certified and licensed athletic trainers works closely with high school athletes and coaches to prevent injuries, optimize performance, and return injured athletes to competition as soon as possible. They provide on-site coverage to Bowling Green, Eastwood and Elmwood high schools.

Student Athlete Sports Physicals

Wood County Hospital provides sports physicals every spring for students at Elmwood, Eastwood, Bowling Green and Otsego schools.

Summer Programs

During the spring and summer months, the Sports Medicine Program offers sports performance and golf training programs for youth and adults who are interested in enhancing their performance skills.
