Area residents are invited to take a positive step toward improving their health by participating in Wood County Hospitalís Community Wellness Day on Friday, October 16, 2015 from 6:00 to 11:00 a.m. The event will offer a wide variety of low cost and free health screenings such as a comprehensive fasting blood test and vascular screenings for early detection of vascular disease. In addition, various free screenings and educational information will provide participants with an overview of their general health.

Three Wood County Hospital nurses received the Nurse Excellence Award on May 4, 2015 as part of the hospital's 2015 National Nurses Week observance. The winners were: Jodie Wint, RN for the Traditional Nurse category; Christine Wulff, RN for the Non-Traditional Nurse category; and Lori Tuck, RN, for the Leadership category. Now in it's fifth year, the Nurse Excellence Award is given annually to a nurse who is nominated by her peers, manager, or a physician.

Wood County Hospital has signed up to use CommonWell Health Alliance services to enable healthcare providers to see patient health data from outside organizations within its Cerner electronic health record (EHR). Patients who receive care at its facility will be able to give their doctors and nurses access to medical records from outside health care organizations that participate in CommonWell.

Beginning Monday, May 12, Wood County Hospital's ReadyCare service will move to the Falcon Health Center, 838 E. Wooster Street. The healthcare professionals at the new ReadyCare at Falcon Health Center provide treatment for minor ailments and injuries that need prompt attention, but don't require a visit to the emergency room.
