Falcon Health Center Groundbreaking

Wood County Hospital (WCH) and Bowling Green State University hosted a groundbreaking ceremony on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. for the Falcon Health Center, a new $5 million University health center that will be operated by the hospital and replace the present Student Health Services building on campus. Speakers included: Stanley Korducki, WCH President; Mary Ellen Mazey, BGSU President; and Alex Solis, President of the BGSU Undergraduate Student Government.

The groundbreaking ceremony took place at the site of the new facility at the corner of East Wooster Street and South College Drive, and was followed by a reception at the McFall Gallery in the McFall Center.

"Wood County Hospital is thrilled to be partnering with BGSU on the development of this new health center," said Korducki. "We look forward to creating a 21st century facility to support care for the BGSU students, faculty and staff."

"We're pleased and excited about this partnership with Wood County Hospital and what it will mean for our students," said Dr. Mazey. "This new facility will enhance student health care, increase efficiency and benefit the broader BGSU community."

The new 23,000 square foot building will be two stories high and will complement the campus buildings across Wooster Street.

The first floor will have a reception area, and business and consultation offices. Patient care functions include lab/blood draw, an X-ray room, drive-thru pharmacy, approximately 16 exam rooms, procedure rooms, an IV therapy area, wellness and patient education rooms, and clinical support areas.

Parking for patients, visitors and staff will be onsite.

All services provided at the former BGSU Student Health Services will be provided at the Falcon Health Center.

Construction is set to begin in February with the goal of opening by the fall 2013 semester. Until then, the existing BGSU Student Health Services will continue to operate at its present location.
