Bowling Green

BG Christian Food Pantry(must have referral)

  • Mon -Wed 1-3pm, 2nd Thursday of each month 6-7pm, Fri 10- noon.
  • Referral; any social service agency, Salvation Army, any church affiliation, or mental health agency.
  • Proof of income / current ID / Social Security cards of household members is needed for referral
  • Clients need referral and picture ID when they go to the pantry.
  • Can come back once every two months with referral and collect meats, hygiene products, fruit, milk and canned goods.
  • Can come back daily for breads and pastries (no restrictions).
  • Only serves individuals living within the Bowling Green school district.

St. Aloysius Food Pantry/ Can visit once a month

  • Individuals are asked to sign that they meet income requirements, but no proof is needed.

First United Methodist Church (FUM)

  • Main pass out is the first Friday of the month 10 a.m. - 11:30a.m.
  • Office staff are willing to distribute food as needed for individuals who visit the church and express need.
  • Church office hours during the summer are 8:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. During the
  • academic year the church office is open from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
  • Qualifications based upon declared income or having just lost a job.
  • Proof of income / current ID
  • 1 bag per household
  • Can only come one time per month.
  • Additional Senior Food Box (over 60+ years old) – picture ID to register

Brown Bag Food Project / once every 6 months

  • Call for food pick-up / deliveries for homebound residents, 65+ and disabled (unable to leave without

  • 3-5 days’ supply of food and toiletries
  • No restrictions on clients except that they must live in Wood County.

 

Wood County Area Ministries - BG

  • Assist with electrical, utility, and medical prescriptions.
  • Combine monies with other agencies to help people pay for electrical, utility, and medical prescriptions.
  • Help people obtain birth certificates, Help is capped at $450 per family per year.
  • Have an intake form that requires individuals to list their income, employment, and employee
  • information.

Fostoria

Pantry Plus

  • ID and proof of residency (bill) is required.

  • Serves Seneca County and Fostoria zip code.

  • Clients can only visit once every 30 days.

  • Offer food boxes for seniors monthly, and Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes for anyone who qualifies.

  • Can’t come for food assistance more than once every four weeks.

  • The level of church funding determines the amount of utility assistance available for individuals in need.

  • Utility assistance is available for individuals once every six months.

  • Based on need, availability of funding, live in parish boundaries - Rossford and western part of Northwood

  • Services: Electric Service Payment Assistance, Food Pantries, Gas Service Payment Assistance, Heating

  • The congregation maintains a community garden and the produce is donated to the food pantry

Stoney Ridge

St. John’s Lutheran Church – Serves Stoney Ridge and Walbridge Area

  • Photo ID and a driver’s license is needed.
  • Only serves residents of northern Wood County (typically Stoney Ridge and Walbridge).
  • Provides some hygiene items with the food.
  • Some fresh produce is grown from a community garden on the site.
  • Provides Christmas and Easter hams to designated families.
  • Donates school supplies and backpacks to students in need at a local school. (Not through the Salvation Army.)

Helping Hands of Saint Louis

  • Provides vouchers to senior citizens for nutritional restaurant-based meals and includes socialization, nutrition and health information.

  • Age 60 and older; spouses can participate regardless of age; priority is given to participants who are low income, disabled, isolated, minority and at nutritional risk; applicants cannot be utilizing other meal programs such as Meals on Wheels, PASSPORT; must be able to fill out an application and redeem certificates independently.
