Wood County Hospital recently announced plans for the largest expansion and renovation project in the hospital’s 56-year history: a $35-million, 100,000 square-foot addition.
The project include will include 56 private-patient rooms, a Surgery Center that includes six major operating suites and four procedure rooms, an expansion of the emergency department, the addition of a chapel, additional parking and renovation of some support departments.
“Hospitals need to frequently update and adapt themselves to the realities of 21st century healthcare,” said Stanley Korducki, Wood County Hospital President. “This project will bring a variety of benefits to the hospital, our patients and the community. Facilitating this expansion will help the hospital, its staff and physician partners deliver on the high standards to which our patients hold us.”

The announcement of this project follows two years of planning. Construction of the new addition, which will increase the size of the hospital by 50 percent.
