WCH Earns Gold-Level Healthy Worksite Award

Wood County Hospital earned the gold-level Healthy Worksite Award from the Healthy Business Council of Ohio (HBOC) for 2023.

The Healthy Business Council of Ohio (HBCO) has announced that 91 Ohio employers were recognized for healthy worksite practices in 2023. Wood County Hospital was one of the organizations that received recognition within the state-wide organization's tiered designation program, the Healthy Worksite Recognition Program.

The Healthy Worksite Recognition awards Ohio employers who demonstrate a commitment to employee wellness through comprehensive worksite health promotion and wellness programs. Applicants are scored on the extent to which their wellness programs facilitate and encourage employee health, enhance productivity and ensure a healthy work environment.

All applications were reviewed and evaluated using objective criteria. Four levels of high achievement were awarded in 2023 —Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum, in addition to an entry-level tier of "recognition."

"We are honored to be recognized with this award once again this year, acknowledging our commitment to fostering a healthy workplace through a variety of innovative year-round programs. We actively encourage our employees and staff to embrace a healthy lifestyle, recognizing the positive outcomes associated with well-being. Promoting a healthy work environment not only enhances our employees' overall wellness but also extends its benefits to their families, co-workers and ultimately, our patients. By prioritizing the happiness and health of our workforce and their families, we strive to deliver the highest level of care to our community," said Teri Laurer, director of wellness services.
